I have to say this is one of my favorite images I drew while in Japan. It started with the unicorn and the pheniox than the ki-rin, dragon and turtle added themselves in. Each of the animals represents once of the four cardenal directions on a compass. Dragon east, pheniox south, ki-rin west, turtle north.
The unicorn (europen and newage) has no zodiac or true group in which it belongs. to me, the pheniox almost seems to be saying: "Since you have none of your own, join ours." Each of the kanji represent the four basic elements, wind, fire, water, earth. This image still needs some thing... I am thinking lines conecting the four kanji and maybe a dimondish one too. you all are getting a preview of a coloring book I am making and have been working on since 2000 (XD). It is almost to a point of completion. |
