Guarding the Boarder :eXe: by Ishaway Guarding the Boarder :eXe: by Ishaway
My chosen for this month in the EquineXchange.
<3 I was so tickled to get this character; from the moment I read the description post I knew I wanted to draw him. <3

I read through the information *meradragon had posted in her journals and such to try and get a better feel for this fearsome looking fellow.
I can only hope I captured him.

Artistic blurb
<3 I am happy with the way the back ground and sky came out; all moody without the use of dark storm clouds. As for the shading on the body I am just really happy it came out well.
Sometimes my shading with watercolor gets really nasty streaks into it due to drying and waiting to long between coats but this time it worked <3
The colored pencil was used primarily in his eye, nose and in the deeper shadows on his barrel and tail.

The paper warped, but that happens when the paper is thin and you apply water.
And please CRITIQUE MEH! <3

-----

Time Taken: 7 hours
Medium:
-Sakura Micron inking pen 01, and 005
-Cotman watercolor
-Prismacolor pencils
-Done on Acedemie Sketch Diary; 11 x 8 1/2 inch Heavyweight paper.

argh, sorry I never really got around to finishing stuff. I think shortly after my "I have no money" stint, I got a job that literally sucked the life out of me for two years then laid me off xD

Anyway, I'm in a comfortable spot in my life and I'm actually still interested in picking up this original if you have it on hand. I'll buy it off of you, too, so if you note me with how much you want for it, plus shipping (to CA) I'll paypal you the amount!

Thank you again :3

man, late late late, I don't even know if you still have it, but would it be possible to get the original of this from you sometime? I'm looking for art of my characters to decorate my dorm walls :33

I don't have any money on hand at the moment, but since I think it would be unfair to ask for it for free (aka, why I didn't ask before), I could maybe do a character for you in watercolors and do a trade? :3

yes! This would be quite lovely for some wall decoration <3

I really adore your Sundal, but I might take a stab at Ishaway, too. If you have a preference, let me know. I have classes, but I could probably at least get a sketch out this week, and maybe even start painting. I really appreciate this :3! Loved the picture when you first did it, but I didn't have money or the time to make something appropriate, I felt, to ask for it.

I love the movement in this picture :D, and the way you drew the muscles :).
I'm not very expert at drawing horses :P or animals that much, but I know a little about blending colour. I think you can get a much finer blend with the watercolours, but I really like the way you painted the colour over the image. The blending at the sand the way you created the shadows really stands out to me :aww:, I think it suits the picture really well.
<3 imperfections in art :D.
